Oil Is Key
- All tanning oil recipes need to begin with some sort of natural oil. Olive oil is usually the first that comes to mind and does have intense skin moistening and smoothing properties. But for this tanning oil, you will be using hazelnut and walnut oils. Begin by mixing 4 tsp. each of walnut and hazelnut oil. Then add 2 tbsp. each of sesame oil and wheat-germ oil. Add five drops of lavender oil and five drops of ylang-ylang oil so that the tanning oil will provide you with natural anti-inflammatory agents to protect you from the sun.
Hazelnut oil is rich in vitamin E, so its fatty acid content nourishes the skin. Walnut oil protects your skin from harmful UV rays by nourishing and hydrating the skin and your skin absorbs walnut oil extremely fast. That is what allows it to protect you from the sun's damaging rays.
Combine all ingredients by shaking well each time before application.
Avocado Extract and Carrot Juice
- Avocado has lots of vitamins that are good for your skin. Lecithin and unsaturated fatty acids help keep your skin moist and prevent it from drying out due to sun exposure. Carrot juice has vitamins and minerals that are good for your skin as well, but it also has another property that can help your tan get darker quicker. The minerals in carrot juice attract the sun's rays, so your skin can absorb more sunlight and get darker. But, be careful not to use too much carrot juice because it can increase your chances of getting sunburn and may actually tint your skin orange. A few drops of carrot juice are all you need to prevent your tender skin from getting burnt or turning orange.
